No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all.

They may be right.

Oh. My. God. I can’t begin to describe all that this book – this entire series – has to offer. All I can say is that once again, Erin Watt left me sleepless, speechless, entranced, addicted, and completely on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. After the cliff-hangers from Paper Princess and Broken Prince, the complex pieces of this suspenseful, tragic romance came together perfectly and left me ALMOST completely satisfied.

The only thing that would satisfy me completely is … more. More of this series. More of these amazing, beautiful, flawed characters — Callum, Easton, Gideon, Sebastian and Sawyer; Reed and Ella. Even Wade and Val. I’ll never get enough of this story – I want every single character to heal and find their HEA at last. Although, on second thought, I never want to have to deal with Dinah or Steve again. And I bet I’m not alone among the legion of fans that have followed this series like the addiction it is.

I warned my husband, when I opened this book, that there would be consequences. At least one sleepless night. Curse words. Possible tears, more than once. Snarky behavior if I encountered readus interruptus. He experienced them all, and then some. Deep sighs, groans, and a few giggles. I caught worried glances coming my way every so often, as I have while reading every book in the series. I think he was as relieved as I was when I closed my e-reader without destroying it, and smiled the contented smile of a satisfied woman.

The tension is explosive. The twists are fast and furious, particularly in the last 10% of the story, exactly when you need them to answer all the questions you’ve wondered about since the first page of the first book. And, oh, by the way: the sex – when it happens – will thrill you to your toenails and beyond. After all, we waited long enough. #TotallyWorthIt.

The third time was definitely the charm for me. Twisted Palace was the best of the series, and I’ll read all three books time and time again.

I might be babbling, at this point, but it’s the lack of sleep. Suffice to say, I will sleep like a Royal baby tonight.

She Laughs In Pink (Sheridan Hall #1)She Laughs In Pink by Jessica Calla
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars for a sensational start to a new series by Jessica Calla!

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might want to throw your Kindle across the room from time to time. You’ll hope for a happy ever after – for all of the wonderful characters in Sheridan Hall, but especially for Juliet and Chase, whose tragic journeys have brought them together – and could also tear them apart.

I loved this story. It’s a wonderful beginning with characters you will love and a story that will capture your heart. If you love a young adult love story with all the feels – this is the book, and the series, for you. I’m already looking forward to the sequel.

My Review — 5 Blazing Stars…

When you love a book this much, it’s hard to know where to begin, or how to do it justice. I’ve actually struggled with this review because the book had an unusual effect on me – it took me to some dark places I didn’t want to go, made me laugh, made me cry, then left me hanging, absolutely addicted.

First let me say that Paper Princess is not for everyone. It’s a young adult novel with very mature themes. It can be dark and disturbing in ways you don’t expect. The struggles, both internal and external, are painful to witness. If you’ve ever been ‘the new girl’ in a new school at a tender age; if you’ve ever been bullied because you’re ‘different;’ if you’ve ever fallen – hard – for someone who isn’t good for you, who leads you on, and leaves you desolate; if you’ve ever lived on the wrong side of the tracks, the victim of assumptions about what you are because of where you’re from or what you’ve done … this book will resonate deeply and leave a lasting impression. It will make you angry. But most important – it will make you care. And it will make you appreciate the strength of the young heroine who finds herself caught up in a life she didn’t ask for, and isn’t sure she wants. If you’re open-minded, you will also care, deeply, about her guardian, Callum, and his five boys, because they are in a deep, dysfunctional struggle with grief – and no one is winning.

Yes, there is a cliffhanger, and it will KILL you. But unless you are completely opposed to delaying gratification, don’t let it stop you from reading this deeply thoughtful story with a finale that holds so much potential.  Yes, I walked around with my ‘cliffhanger’ face on for a couple of days, and a book hangover that wouldn’t let up, but it only made me want to read the next book more. On a scale of 1 to 10…my anticipation is a solid 15. I believe in happy ever afters, and I believe in these two authors – this is an incredible collaboration and I look forward to more of the Royals, the sooner the better.

Q&A with Erin Watt, about Paper Princess…

Q: Is this really a YA?

We recommend this for young adult readers, age 17 and up. We think it’s a book that will appeal to older teens and those adults who are in touch with their inner teen, like us.

Q: Is there a cliffhanger? I’ve heard there’s an awful cliffhanger! Why’d you write a cliffhanger?

We promise that we didn’t set out to write a cliffhanger, but Paper Princess does end in one. The good news is that the next book is up for pre-sale and it will be released July 25, 2016.
