 My Review

Fans of The Story of Us trilogy, who first fell in love with Ayden Stone and Beth Parker in TouchStone for play, have been looking forward to the continuation of their story. I’m delighted to say that they will not be disappointed by Blue Genes.  In fact, I predict they will be overjoyed to once again immerse themselves in the latest twists in her new contemporary romantic-suspense series, Into The Blue.

Ms. Jamesson took a leap of faith in taking Ayden and Beth beyond the traditional boundaries of contemporary adult romance with the dramatic paranormal turn of events in TouchStone for ever.  It was a shocking departure from the predicted storyline for fans, but it was a truly unique twist that showed Ms. Jamesson’s range and creativity, taking readers on a whirlwind journey, literally to heaven and hell – and back.  Ms. Jamesson’s willingness to buck the mass trends by crafting a 21st century fairy tale, complete with angels and demons, sets this series – and the new one – apart from the typical and predictable billionaire romance.

Those of us who have followed the story closely knew that questions were left begging for answers, loose ends that, when tied together, would complete their journey.

What happens in the aftermath of Beth’s ordeal and Ayden’s too-close encounter with death?

Is Ayden the same man?

How will Beth deal with the secrets she must keep from him?

What about Beth’s pregnancy: natural, supernatural, or something in between?

Will the dangerous remnants of Dan Rizler’s desperate attempt to destroy them re-emerge to threaten their family again?

Now that Ayden knows his origins, where will his search for his long-lost family take him – and how will it change the outcome of their story?

The stage is set for these questions – and others – to be answered as the series continues. As expected, the passion and sensuality we’ve come to expect between Ayden and Beth is at the forefront of their ‘reunion,’ but both of them are forced to keep secrets that inevitably will come back to haunt them. The tension starts slowly but builds to a roaring crescendo when Ayden faces the most difficult choice of his life to date – another choice between life and death, buried within a skillful deception he must allow to play out, trusting that Beth will take it in stride, and trust him when he does the unthinkable.

I truly enjoyed this story. I shamelessly admit that Ayden is one of my all-time favorite billionaire boyfriends, and I’ve missed him. I love the unique, unpredictable twists and turns the story takes, the genre-bending theme, the heart-wrenching choices, the risks each must take, and the changes in both characters as a result. Once again, Ms. Jamesson delivers a suspenseful conclusion that will leave her fans hanging on a thread, begging for the next installment.

I highly recommend Blue Genes  for lovers of the original series. New readers should begin with The Story of Us trilogy (TouchStone for play, TouchStone for giving, TouchStone for everto understand and appreciate this continuation.  For readers 18+ due mature themes and delightfully steamy sexual content.
